Refinancing a 203k Loan with an FHA Streamline Refinance
If you already have an FHA 203k loan for home rehab, can you refinance it using the FHA Streamline Refinance program? In most cases, the answer is yes. However, for your property to be eligible for this, all rehabilitation and renovation work must be complete.
This needs to be evidenced by:
The release of your rehab escrow account
A certificate of completion for your renovation
The completion of your loan’s closeout process, which must be done on the FHA connection website
Just like other FHA Streamline Refinance loans, the FHA does not require that a borrower get an appraisal in order to refinance a 203k loan. Despite that, lenders often do require an appraisal, so you should check with various lenders in order to determine what you’ll need to get approved.
